Self-professed invisible man a no-show at hearing

PROVO -- Self-professed invisible man Adam Cowgill was nowhere to be seen Thursday as a judge called out his name in court. The judge then asked defense attorney J.C. Wright where Cowgill was. Turning slightly to survey the courtroom spectators, Wright replied that he couldn't see Cowgill in court.

As a result, the judge issued a warrant for Cowgill's arrest. According to Wright, however, Cowgill later appeared in the courtroom and the judge agreed to revoke the warrant. A competency hearing was scheduled for Cowgill on Jan. 12.

Cowgill's disappearance and subsequent tardiness to court comes roughly a month and a half after his arrest, during which he reportedly claimed to be invisible and untouchable.

Cowgill's claims reportedly turned out to be false, however, as officers were able to locate him long enough to arrest him. Cowgill was booked on charges of evading police, damage to jail property, reckless endangerment, unlawful detention, reckless driving and possession of a dangerous weapon.
