A Russian supermodel has left her legion of Instagram followers astonished after posting a picture of herself – without any legs.

Natalia Vodianova took a selfie wearing a pink jumper and black hat in front of a mirror - but strangely she seems to be floating.

The 36-year-old, also known as Supernova, shared the picture to her 2.1m Instagram followers, but their general reaction was confusion.

In the picture Natalia, one of Russia’s most famous models, seems unaware that she’s legless.

Thousands of users liked and commented on the photo, with one saying: "Where have your legs gone?"

Another adds: "Looks good, though without legs."

One user explained that her left leg had blended with the dark armchair in the background while her right leg was distorted by the edges of the two mirrors.

She is well known for her rags to riches life story and for her eight-season, seven-figure contract with Calvin Klein .

In 2012, she came in third on the Forbes top-earning models list, estimated to have earned £6.7 million in one year.

Vodianova is currently ranked by models.com as one of the New Supers in the fashion industry.

Vodianova is founder of the Naked Heart Foundation , a philanthropic organisation committed to helping children with special needs and their families

She was discovered age 15 and has walked in more than 200 runway shows.

Natalia was also in the film Clash of the Titans.
